Submissions Now Open
Heard Em Say is proud to announce the submission window for The Torch is now open! We are looking for work from youth ages 12-19 that seeks to inspire and/or to tell the authentic stories of young people often kept to the margins.
We envision creating a space in the world where youth are seen as leaders and their/our voices aren’t dismissed for being “too young.” Here at The Torch, we hold space for all experiences. Our mission is to ignite a fire within youth and make them/us feel seen and heard!
Submissions will be accepted from October 15 - November 15, 2026 for publication in our 2026 edition estimated to launch at our open mic on Friday, December 18th from 7:00-9:00pm.
Contributors will receive a free copy of the magazine as well as performance opportunities at Heard Em Say events and recognition on our website and social media.

“The Torch” Literary Magazine was launched in 2021 in response to COVID shutting down so many of our in person stages. We wanted a platform from which young people could launch their voices without needing a stage to do it. We now seek to publish one issue annually, highlighting youth artists who participate in our programs.
